There are about 450 houses in my neighborhood. It is a huge neighborhood, and the distance from my house to the front of the neighborhood is about three quarters of a mile. It would take a very determined person to walk from the front of the neighborhood to my house, is my point. However, I continue to obsess over the possibility of someone breaking into my home! I don’t worry about them taking materialistic things like my couch or my television; I worry most about my jewelry.
While I don’t have a ton of jewelry, I do have some pieces of incredible sentimental value to me. I own my grandmother’s engagement ring. I own my mother’s first strand of pearls. I wore both of these things in my wedding, and please believe me when I say both are absolutely irreplaceable. To help assuage my fear, my husband and I recently installed a HomeAlarmSystems system.
While the system can’t necessarily stop someone from breaking in and taking those things, it does help ease my mind a bit. I think the warning sign we have outside the front door would dissuade most people, and hopefully the piercing alarm that goes off when a door or window is opened would dissuade the rest!
