Yet another page in time is being turned, as we approach the new year, a new season and also a fresh consciousness provided. We perceive and make it so. Most of the times, this is the time we promise ourselves a lot – promises, such as ‘I will improve’. We seem to be so tensed as we are presented with the chance for a new beginning ahead.
A lot of people would resort to self-judgment rather than commending themselves for coming thus this far. We tend to be blind to our sincere efforts that culminated to achievements (no matter how small they seem), and rather focus on what we couldn’t achieve. With that mindset, we begin the New Year with resolutions to break a new record, just to discover only few months later that the best of man is still man at his very best – still carrying the same limitations that have been our point of struggle.
We also have an option of telling ourselves not to set any goal this new year because we think it is needless doing so again, when the previous year’s goals were not well accomplished. This option would even produce an intense feeling of failure. But this shows you are honest with yourself – the reality of life, which is courage and achievement on its own, or you don’t think so?
Now, here’s the question; is it wrong to have intention, wishes and goals for the new year? Absolutely not! On the other hand, I think we should endeavor to do it with our hearts and not just with our minds. It is more than a mind thing to keep up resolutions. It is important to get a grasp of how our belief system works. It is even more important to understand the mindset we employ when it comes to embracing the belief system. Okay, let’s put it this way, how we embrace ourselves is what counts most.
Here’s what my new year declaration looks like
With all that I’ve learned. I have resolved to embrace the ‘I’ that I have come to be, the ‘I’ that is my entire essence of existence, and the ‘I’ that has become my aspiration. It’s all about the ‘I’ that is my totality – my dreams, actions, feelings and all that come with them. I acknowledge my humanness and the ‘I’ that brings me the courage to tackle my fears and move into the future in braveness regardless of what the outcome of life may be. I choose to accept, respect and love all, about ‘I’.
I take on the ‘I’ that desire to love, share and be the source of inspiration to others around, as I extend my invitation to them to learn and experience the ‘I’ that I have become. I cling to the woman I am right now, and the woman I will transform into in the future. I’m also persuaded that I will embrace what the future holds for me.
