Whoever said birthdays are always happy occasions? There is a huge number of people all across the world that are not so very elated during their birthdays. A little sad, but true. This is because birthdays are always associated with the ageing process and not everyone are ecstatic over getting a year older. While most will be thankful for having yet another year to live, some look at it as a bitter reminder that there are some things they haven’t accomplished yet, and they may be running out of time.
This is perhaps due to many conventions we have come to live by, and defying such conventions force us to have some doubts. For example, a mid-thirties single lady will probably be worried if she’ll ever meet the one. Then there are those who will be concerned about their careers, just because they haven’t stayed long in any one job for more than a year or two. Some will even want to change careers as they come near their senior years, feeling they have never gotten around to pursue the dreams they’ve always had. These doubts are never more pronounced than when you add a year to your age, and that is why a lot of people experience lonesomeness during otherwise celebratory birth days.
No matter how you look at it, in the end, it’s all about how you look at things, and how you choose to react to certain situations. If you are less than happy about your birthday and celebrating it, you should tell your friends and loved ones that you’d rather not have a celebration, and they will gladly respect your wishes. After all, it’s just one day, and you have 364 more days to prepare for the next one.
