We are All Distinct Individuals

When you hear a distinct individual, it means that individual is distinguished and made to stand out, set apart to avoid getting confused by trivial matters – in fact, that individual is simply special. Once again, think for a moment that your boss in the office is more than your ‘boss’.

Outside the ‘distinction ‘boss’, beyond it, you will find that typical flesh and blood attributes functioning from a wide range of views as well as judgments, choices, previous experiences, feelings, likes/dislikes as well as programs that characterize a typical flesh and blood – I mean human being.

unique you

Once a person assumes a leadership position, such person is ushered into that accountability, and also walks into the distinction while still carrying his distinct personal identity with him – his likes, thoughts, dislikes, feelings, personal knowledge and more. Everyone is known with a personal identity.

There is personal baggage that accompanies us, leaders are also included. Being a leader does not remove someone’s personal identity; the person is still like you – flesh and blood. There is no one else who is like you – this makes you distinct and distinguished. Leader or leadership is a distinction – and everyone is distinct.

Just ponder.

If you dance that regular tune which says ‘follow your leader’, without separating leadership roles from the leader’s identity, you are only making yourself vulnerable to risk – the risk of making your leader a super-human. You will also be guilty of not being compassionate about your leader’s human attributes. Of course, you would face a lot of disappointments for expecting too much from them, not considering them as mere humans like you. You may give up eventually when you expect so much from your leaders.
