We seek to stay young, but do we really know what that means?

There’s a massive search for youthfulness, everyone seems to be pursuing a miracle antidote for aging. We make an effort to grow wiser but no one wants to grow older. There was a time when old age was seen as the real wisdom. But right now, old age is equated to an ailment, loss of memory and as being invalid.

Regardless, everyone would certainly approach that age that leaves us with just a little moment and few breathes between death and life. Is this moment the actual time to let go of the grip of fear to get old, or will we still struggle to stay ageless at this moment?

being young

It is surprising, for instance, that more than any other ailment; heart attack strikes more people in America. This disease is associated with lifestyle and is chronic like some other diseases as soon as it is diagnosed. We have been brainwashed to think that the only pathway to survival and having a future is by living on drugs.

What is the reason? Aging cannot be without ailment. Do we really view life the right way as we nurture and feed ourselves? Our body is a mere casing, a container for us to dwell in while life lasts. Unfortunately, we hold tenaciously to this ‘container’ or ‘casing’ as if it is the real essence of life, and as though there is no other life besides living this way.

Is it not better that we reflect more on the way we handle this body? Most of us do not see it as a treasurable gift, by the way, they treat it. Is it not better that we love and treat it well and even thank it daily – sounds strange?

Seeing it from a larger perspective, life is merely a transitory moment. Unfortunately, most of us do not perceive life that way and we all tend to realize it almost when that fleeting moment stares at us – when it is only that moment that separates life and death. How come it takes us that much time to realize the gift of being mortals – I mean being humans?

Life, it’s quite a strange thing. Do we really have much to do with it? Let us arise to the consciousness of that transitory moment, which we do not even have a say to. Or do you think we have a say to it?
